A better social gaming experience

An ambitious and disruptive social media app for Desktop and Mobile, that combined a Reddit style discussion forum for consuming gaming content, with VoIP and instant messaging, for in-game communication during online play. The product’s goal was to compete with Discord and become the key platform for Gamer communication, leveraging Unity’s RT3D capabilities to create delightful design features like gamer avatars.

Background

With a long and successful history in building the leading game engine for developers, Unity decided to take on the ‘Consumer’ market: Gamers. Key business leaders identified that gamers use a disconnected set of applications to discover new games and gameplay information, find friends to play with and for in-game communication.

Business Goal / Opportunity

The consumer team stakeholders identifies that there was a strong need to build a better social gaming experience; A ‘Home’ for all gaming information and communication so that gamers would use it before, during and after game play called ‘RABBLE’.

Rabble would generate a reel of ‘Highlights’ from the user’s gameplay, i.e. top a clips of short gaming moments like kills and victories would be generated using Machine Learning, and delivered to the user after a gaming session.
